A Cosmetology School Built to Get You Licensed and Career-Ready
Our 1250-hour cosmetology program at Genesis Beauty School in Lancaster, PA meets all Pennsylvania State Board requirements and is backed by MiLady curriculum — delivered digitally on an iPad, yours to keep when you graduate.
Currently our program is Full-time only, Monday through Friday 9am–4pm and can be completed in approximately 10 months.
Our Four Pillars Of Learning
What makes Genesis different isn’t just what we teach — it’s how we teach it. We’ve organized the entire 1250 hours into four progressive learning phases designed to build confidence and skill:
Foundations — Core theory, safety, sanitation, and the science behind hair, skin, and nails. You’ll build the knowledge base everything else depends on.
Create — Around week 16, students transition to the student salon floor. Theory wraps up and real-client service hours begin. This is where it all comes together.
Formation — Classroom and hands-on practice deepens. You’re working on mannequins and fellow students, building technical repetition before moving to real clients.
Elevate — The final phase focuses on refinement, guest experience, professional readiness, and exposure to the broader industry through guest artists and field experiences.
What You Will Learn
Professional Practices — 50 Hours
Every successful beauty professional knows that technical skill alone isn’t enough. This foundational module covers salon safety, sanitation, professional conduct and the practical knowledge you need to operate confidently in any salon environment from day one of your career.
Sciences — 200 Hours
Great cosmetologists make informed decisions, and that starts with understanding the science behind the work. You’ll develop a strong working knowledge of hair, skin, and nail biology through coursework in trichology, histology, chemistry, physiology, and cosmetic dermatology — giving you the foundation to assess, advise, and deliver results for every client.Cosmetology Skills — 1000 Hours
This is your time spent developing your skills. The largest portion of your program is dedicated to hands-on technical training across the full spectrum of cosmetology services — hair styling, cutting, color, chemical texturizing, skin care, nail technology, makeup, and more. You’ll graduate with the manipulative skills, client experience, and professional confidence to walk into any salon and get to work.

Do I need any prior experience to enroll?
No prior experience is required to pursue your cosmetology license in Pennsylvania. Note that Genesis does not currently participate in federal financial aid programs — please review our tuition and financing options before enrolling.
What is the Pennsylvania State Board exam and how do you prepare me for it?
The Pennsylvania State Board exam is the multiple choice written exam every cosmetology graduate must pass to receive their license to legally practice in the state of Pennsylvania. At Genesis, your entire 1250-hour program is structured around State Board requirements — so by the time you sit for the exam, you’ve already covered everything you’ll need to know.

Genesis Beauty School is a licensed cosmetology school operating under the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology. The accreditation process is a multi year process that will be completed before our 5th year of operation.
